KinetiPlan: Customer-Hosted 401(k) Administration and Recordkeeping for Independent TPAs
One platform for plan administration, the participant ledger, payroll intake, compliance testing and billing, hosted in your own environment. Designed, built and supported by Software Home.
In short
KinetiPlan is a 401(k) administration and recordkeeping platform for independent US third-party administrators, developed by Software Home. Its pilot build runs sponsors and plans, participant census, annual projects, ADP/ACP, 410(b), top-heavy, 402(g) and 415(c) testing, a compliance calendar, a pooled trust ledger, payroll intake, billing and proposals. It is customer-hosted, in the TPA’s own AWS account in a US region, or on-premise.
Two brands, one engineering team
Software Home is the engineering company. It builds custom 401(k) and retirement software for many firms and designs, builds and supports KinetiPlan.
KinetiPlan is the product. It has its own name, website (kinetiplan.net), roadmap and product inquiries (hello@software-home.net). Custom development work is handled by Software Home.

What KinetiPlan does today, and what is still scope
Status follows KinetiPlan’s own product pages. “In pilot build” means working with synthetic data; “product scope” and “proposed” mean planned and validated in a pilot.
| Capability | What it covers | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Plan administration | Sponsors and plans, plan records, annual administration projects, task boards and staff workload | In pilot build |
| Participant accounts and transaction ledger | Participant directory and census detail; pooled trust ledger with ledger activity by status, type, plan and date | In pilot build |
| Contribution and payroll processing | Payroll CSV intake (ADP, Paychex, Gusto or generic layout) validated against the plan census, then posted; failures rejected with reasons | In pilot build |
| Compliance testing | ADP/ACP, 410(b), top-heavy, 402(g) and 415(c) per plan and plan year, with action items and estimated corrective distributions | In pilot build |
| Billing and proposal generation | Fee schedule calculator (base, per-participant, asset-based) that drafts proposals; invoices and collection status | In pilot build |
| Participant and employer portals | Role-based sponsor and participant experiences | Product scope |
| Recordkeeping reconciliation | Discrepancy alerts and an exception resolution center where staff approve or dismiss with notes | In pilot build |
| Investment processing | Import and compare external investment, custodian or recordkeeper records where interfaces are available | Product scope |
| Census processing engine | Census validation and exception queue; a free in-browser census validation tool | In pilot build |
| SECURE 2.0 automation | Small employer credit calculator available; Roth catch-up, LTPT and auto-enrollment payroll rules proposed for pilot scope | Partly proposed |
| TPA calculators and workflows | Free ADP/ACP, 415(c), eligibility, census and SECURE 2.0 credit tools; compliance calendar with .ics export | Available |
| AI assistance | Planned as read-only assistance that never changes ledger balances or test results | Planned |
Testing results are for review by qualified staff; KinetiPlan is not a certified testing engine and does not provide legal, tax or investment advice.
Screens from the pilot build
Every screen comes from the KinetiPlan pilot demo environment. All data is synthetic.

Customer-hosted by design
KinetiPlan runs where the TPA decides: its own AWS account in a US region of its choice, or on-premise.
- Participant data stays in infrastructure the customer controls
- Responsibilities agreed in writing: infrastructure, access, encryption keys, backups, updates
- SOC 2-aligned practices; no SOC 2 report or certification is claimed
- Planned AI features are read-only and never change balances or test results
- The marketing website is separate from customer deployments
Who it is for
Independent US TPAs that want administration, testing, the ledger and billing in one system they control, instead of spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
How to evaluate it
- Tour the pilot build online.
- Book a live walkthrough on your own workflow.
- Agree a scoped pilot that proves what matters to you.
